Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Protruding Clavicle After Shoulder Surgery?
Hello Dr. I had shoulder surgery last Feb. Full R/C tear as well as the labrum, about 3 months ago I noticed what I believe is my clavicle protruding from the top of the shoulder, the only pain is if there is pressure applied from above it. should I follow up with the surgeon
As due to surgery and changes in the anatomical position of the joint the muscles may take up the slightly different position and undergoes physiological changes to keep the joint stable. This is one of the reasons you are finding the clavicle as protruding.
I will advise you to do shoulder stabilization exercise on both sides to have an equivalency of the joint strength and stability by which the clavicle will be in positions on either side.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
