Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dr. Rynne, My husband developed a pseudocyst near his neck over the week after visiting with his parents on the coast. When he returned on Sunday it was the size of a quarter. Monday it had doubled in size. I encouraged him to go to urgent care. The MD there gave him sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim 800 mg/160 mg with instructions to take 1 tablet 2 times per day. Since Monday the area has nearly covered on side of his chin area. I instructed him to go see his primary MD today. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks, A Concerned Wife
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if the lesion is not infective then no need to give antibiotic, in differential diagnosis it could be lymph node and it could be without the infection swelling can be managed with anti-inflammatory drugs and best would be Tab Ibuprofen 400 mg three times in day, if it fails to respond then it may need some investigations, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
