What Causes Puffiness In Hands After Having Thymectomy?

My husband, age 71, just had a thymectomy (90% robotically) for large 10 tumor, two days ago. His hands are puffy and his urine output is dark and not as much as I would expect (still with catheter, fentanyl epidural, now amiodarone because yesterday he started with a-fib and tachycardia. Heart rate now 70, and a-fib largely under control. What are the puffy hands from?

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Lymphatic blockage leading on to lymphedema during surgery is the cause for puffiness of hands.
2. Dark urine could be due to dehydration or hematuria/hemoglobinuria. Urine examination necessary for further evaluation.
3. Lymphatic blockage needs to be corrected to reduce edema. Its mostly local cause, lymphatic vessel evaluation necessary. Meet your doctor.
