What Causes Puffiness In The Inner Part Of Lower Eye Lid?

Something is wrong with the area underneath my right eye. It isn t the eye itself, but the mid/inner part of the lower lid. When I wake up, it is very swollen (or puffy like when I don t get sleep) and is very red. It hurts every time I blink and if I lightly touch it. It almost feels like a bruise on the inside, but I m not sure what it is. Any ideas?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that puffiness in the area of middle or inner part of lower eyelid can be most probably due to Chalazion formation that occurs due to infection in specialized oil glands known as Meibomian glands..

It generally resolves on its own and at times only doing warm compresses by placing a wash cloth in warm water and applying over the swelling can help in draining it and relieving swelling and pain..

In case if it has not resolved you should consult an Ophthalmologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation done..

You can be advised eyedrops containing antibiotics and steroids..
Continue with warm compresses and keep the eye clean..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
