Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 44 year old healthy female. I don t drink alcohol or do drugs. At the to of my spine, between my shoulder blades there is a puffy area that does not hurt, is not hard or warm to touch, it s just a soft, raised area that tingles down and around my shoulder blades. I m in no pain or discomfort, just concerned why it s there. Thanks!
Puffy spot near the shoulder blades can be commonly due to repetitive overhead motions you perform at work or while exercising. It can lead to overuse injuries and cause inflammation and swelling. Bad posture while sitting, walking, sleeping can cause such symptoms. Lack of exercise and inactive lifestyle can cause fat deposition and hence, puffiness.
Medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are bursitis, muscle strain, shoulder impingement, arteritis, nerve disorder, etc. You are suggested to maintain correct posture while sitting, standing or sleeping. Do regular exercises. If obese, loose weight. Get clinically examined. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
