I feel sorry for the condition your mother have. Don't worry she will be alright soon as this is a disease which is curable.

Pulmonary Tuberculosis spreads through the respiratory droplets from an infected person to a healthy person. When a person already having this disease, coughs or sneezes in air, the droplets of the respiratory passage secretions containing the causative agent in it remains in the form of very fine mist in the air. When a healthy person inhales those droplets of mist, these pathogens get entered his/her respiratory passages too and reside in the lungs, grow and damage the lungs causing full fledge disease named pulmonary tuberculosis.

Yes, it is mostly caused by a bacteria named Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Yes, there is very definitive treatment available for the disease. Consult with a Pulmonologist for in-office evaluation of your mother. He will do a physical examination, see the age, other comorbidities and a lot more factor and will tell your mother a course of medications to follow that may last for up to 9 months. It can be shorter but changes from person to person.

Don't let you mother to stop taking medicines before the deadline given by pulmonologist even if she feel better too.

Drugs we mostly use are:
Pyrazinamide
Ethambutol
Rifampin
Isoniazid.
