Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am suffering a continual movement up my face which is upsetting me to the point of distraction. It's a continual electric like pulse. It seems to travel up from my nose through my right eye and up my forehead. It also seems to get set off when I eat. This happens anytime of the day and night. I have been to the Drs they have suggested its a nerve problem but what can I do about it. I'm at the point where I go to bed to escape the horrible sensation. I'm 65 and am losing my quality of life.
As per your complain severe electric shock like pain on one side of face that is also radiating to Ear and forehead seems to be most probably due to nerve related problems like Trigeminal Neuralgia..
Any disturbances in the functioning of Trigeminal Nerve line compression or trauma can cause short bouts of severe excruciating pain.. It can occur due to causes like nerve compression by any major artery, traumatic injury to nerve, inflammation etc..
Consult a Neurophysician and get an MRI scan done.. You can be advised Neurotic pain killers like Carbamazepine, Gabapentin etc.. If not relieved surgical treatment like Microvascular Decompression, Gama knife radiosurgery etc can be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
