Five months ago you had been operated for knee, it is not due to surgery. If i have to treat such a patient i will advice to have physiotherapy of lower leg and knee.I think it is because of lack of excercise and movement your knee has been frozen it should be allright after physiotherapy and you can apply diclo gel locally .
