What Causes Pulsating Pain In Temples Along With Crossing Of Eyeballs?

I had a mini stroke a year ago due to severely high blood pressure. I've been taking BP meds since then. I was told that I need to quit smoking cigarettes. I've tried quitting several times during the past year but I just can't "kick the habit". I'm still smoking.
This morning I was watching T.V. I was calm and cool as a cucumber; didn't have a worry in the world. I started feeling a pulsating sensation in both my temples, and a few minutes later my eyeballs started crossing. I couldn't uncross them, myself. They stayed crossed for maybe three or four seconds and then uncrossed by themselves.
This event totally freaked me out. I thought I was about to have another stroke. My question is.....
What does all this mean? Am I about to have another stroke in the near future? If so, does my smoking cigarettes play a role in any of this?
