Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pulsating Sensation Below The Rib Cage?
I am having an unusual pulse in the center of my abdomen, just below my rib cage. Blood pressure has be high for hours, then normal for a few hours, then high again. Other background info.... Had 1st episode of AFIB ten days ago. Echo and Petscan with stress test all came out normal (Yeah!). But this new symptom is unnerving. Have appointment with a cardiologist this Thursday.
Pulsation at centre of abdomen may be due to abdominal aortic aneurysm [most likely]or any mass in abdomen. Though echocardiography has come normal may be because aneurysm is abdominal.Investigations like abdominal ultrasound and CT abdomen may be needed to diagnose the condition and assess its size. Depending upon its size,it can be managed medically by controlling blood pressure and blood lipids. Besides, lifestyle changes like avoiding smoking and healthy diet. Surgical options are available if size of aneurysm is large.
Kindly keep having follow up with your cardiologist regarding it.
Hope I answered your query.
