What Causes Pulsating Sensation On The Left Side Of The Neck?
Hi, the left side of my neck keeps pulsating. It s happened before every now and then but it s been pulsating for a prolonged period of time recently, so much that I notice it. I also have thyroid swelling in the left side of my neck so I m wondering if it s because of that.
Hi, I have read your question and your concern is a genuine one. Being aware of heat beat/pulsation can be distressing for many people. After going through your question, most probably the thyroid swelling is pressing on the left blood vessel (common carotid artery) and that's how you feel the pulsations. I would recommend that you go to your doctor who will clinically examine you and maybe arrange an ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland and the adjacent vessel. If there is any increase in the size of thyroid swelling recently, that should be documented and further relevant investigation be ordered. hope this helps.
Hello there I have read through your question and I would like to tell you that feeling pulsating sensation in the neck can be a Normal. Sometimes one can feel pulsating in the neck while lying down or in some other position which stops after one change s the position. But in same cases bounding neck pulse can be a sign of high blood pressure. Specially if it is associated with other symptoms like palpitations , breathlessness etc. So I would advise you to consult your physician to get your Blood pressure checked and rule out any heart related condition s. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
