The feeling of pulsations or heart beat (we commonly call it as palpitations )can be due to various reasons. Definitely, stress,
anxiety or lack of proper sleep is one of the common reasons for it. However, it can also be due to low
hemoglobin, prolonged fating, excessive tea or coffee,
low blood sugar or low blood pressure. Even diseases related to heart (rhythm disorders, muscle disorders), or abnormal hormones or electrolytes (salts) in the body can cause this.
At times, it can be due to some medicines we are taking. I feel first you try to reduce your stress level,have a good night sleep, go for a walk, do some
meditation and take balanced diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. If still the symptoms persist, then go for some investigations like
complete blood count, sugar levels, sodium potassium, TSH and ECG.
