What Causes Purple And Swollen Finger After An Injury?

I stabbed my pointer finger with a dental probe at the PIP and my finger is slightly purple and swollen. I can t bend it all the way, but I can type. It s been 24 hours since the injury, but I am not sure if or when I should go to the hospital. Do you have any advice?

Hi dear
This may either indicate just a contusion or minor bone injuries.
Just try taking simple analgesics for few days, keep the limb elevated and apply hot baths.
If the pain doesn't come down in 24 hours, kindly get an x Ray done to rule out bone injuries,
Hope this answer will help.
Thank you.
