What Causes Purple Coloured Bruise On The Knee Post Impact?

Hi, I was just playing basketball and was shoved pretty hard up in the air and fell straight on my knee. I now have a huge goose egg bruise on the inner top part of it, and it is huge and purple only an hour after impact.
I can move it, so I'm hoping it's just a bad bruise. But I'm reading all of this info regarding bone bruises and I'm very nervous.
I am icing currently, and took some Advil. Many thanks for your advice. Best, Kristi

Hello

Direct impact over the knee may cause fracture of patella. Sometimes one can move the leg with fractured patella. I would suggest you to consult an orthopedician and get an Xray done to rule out any fracture.
Apply ice over the bruise. Analgesic with antiinflammatory(like serratiopeptidase with diclofenac) will be helpful in controlling the inflammation.
