Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I ve recently been diagnosed with mono. Been trying to rest as much as possible and stuff, but my left tonsil started turning purple yesterday and today I noticed my right one starting to do the same thing. The left one is also bleeding a little. Should I go in to see the doc again? I know there s not really anything you can do with mono, but I m still a little worried.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of purple discoloration on the tonsils which seems to be due to tonsillitis either due to bacterial and viral infection. Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages and do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin for 5 days in combination with anti inflammatory medication. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get throat swab test done and go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper prescription.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
