What Causes Purple Spots On Side Of Tongue After Root Canal Treatment?

I have purple spots on both sides of my tongue. There are purple like veins under my tongue. What do these discolorations mean? I Had root canal done 2 days ago, and I don t know if the discoloration resulted from it. I just noticed the discoloration 2 days after the root canal when I checked the left side of my tongue for a bruise because it felt like it got bruised from the procedure.

Lingual varicosity of the tongue is not unusual. But other factors to be ruled out is local trauma, certain medications and vascular lesions like hemangioma. If you are certain of recent onset after treatment it could be attributed trauma and best way is to observe and see for a couple of days.
