What Causes Pus Discharge From A Surgical Incision?

Should I be worried about pus discharge? I have recently had a stint removed from my abdomen. I had surgery two months ago. The stint was removed two days ago (Wednesday), and today (Friday) as I was changing the dressing, I noticed pus. It is very tender around the area. I also checked my temperature Weds night it was 100.4, the next day in the afternoon it was 100.3. Today my temperature is normal 98.6. Please advice

This is sign of wound infection and is should be checked by surgeon who performed surgery since it may require wound opening and drainage and antibiotics.
