What Causes Pus Filled Bumps At The Back Of The Throat While Having Sore Throat?

What are the white pus-looking patches on the back of your throat? I've had sore throat, severe productive cough with lots of wheezing & rattles, but chest x-ray was negative on Aug 1st. Took 10 days of antibiotic, most of symptoms (except wheezing) went away - then it all returned 2days ago. Bad sore throat now, deep coughing, Very lethargic, Low-grade temp of 101, down to 100.9 today. Thank you for your thoughts!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pus filled bumps at the back of the throat while having sore throat which is due to severe infection of upper respiratory tract.

Need not to worry. You should take few preventive measures

- Avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages.

- Take throat lozenges and do warm saline gargles.Take warm water sip by sip.

- Take antibiotic Levofloxacin in combination with antiallergic medication Levocetirizine.

- Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.

- Take steam inhalation on frequent basis.

Visit ENT specialist/pulmonologist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get it examined. You should get blood and throat swab test done and start treatment after proper prescription.
