Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.
I am Dr.Saddiq-ul-Abidin. I have read your question completely, I understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.
I am sorry to know about the problem you are facing at the moment. You were probably having
anxiety or palpitations persistently for which your doctor might have prescribed you per-blocka which is
Propranolol a non selective
beta blocker which controls the
heart rate.
Per-Blocka is in short supplies in market these days probably that's why your are not getting it. It is not advised to suddenly stop the beta blocker after a prolonged use probably that is the reason of your symptoms. Yo are having with drawl palpitations.
Yes there are other alternatives of per blocka in the market you can discuss these with your attending doctor. If you were a patient in my clinic i would have prescribed you
Inderal 40mg as an alternative which has shown really promising results in my patients.
There area also many other alternatives for the same problem like calcium channel blockers , selective beta blockers but you can well use an alternative for the same drug you already were using.
You don't have to panic much about the situation, just start an alternative of Propranolol in same 40mg dosage and everything will be same as before.Your anxiety will only worsen the problem instead of making it better.
Keep yourself hydrated drink much of fluids and keep yourself calm.
I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer.Otherwise rate and close the discussion
Regrads.
