What Causes Raised Red Bumps On Chest And Forearms?

Hi, I am writing because in the past few years I have developed some raised red bumps on my chest (2) and on my forearms. They do not cause me any discomfort but especially the ones on my chest look like I have acne. I know its not but I would sure like to know what this is. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Sebum, along with dead skin cells and bacteria, can build up in the hair follicles on your chest or other parts of the body. When the sebum blocks the hair follicle it results in the formation of acne.

Unhealthy gut can trigger sebum production. For healthy gut take probiotics, fiber rich food, reduce stress, exercise and take adequate sleep. Stay well hydrated. Cut of oily food, wheat, dairy and sugar. Avoid addictions if any. Take nuts and omega 3 fatty acids.

Maintain your hygiene, do not share your toiletries & wash your clothes and bedding with hot water and dettol. You can apply Neosporin ointmet in the area affected.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
