What Causes Raised Red Itchy Rashes On Palms And Underarms?
Thank you... Today I developed a raised red itchy rash bilateral palms/wrists, ringworm in the groin and under the arm and my upper lipped swelled significantly this evening. This morning was the last day of a ten day course, adult dose, of Augmentin for a RLE cellulitis secondary to an closed injury/trauma related to a fall. I m guessing the fungal infection is secondary to antibiotic use? But the other rash and swollen lip? There are no swallowing or breathing issues. I had shrimp for dinner prior to my upper lip swelling. But I m 58 years old and have never had an allergy to shellfish. I eat it often. I ve taken one Benadryl 25mg.
Your symptoms seem to be related to a late reaction to Augmentin. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine daily. I also suggest using Calamine lotion to relieve the rash.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
