What Causes Raised, Red, Painful And Warm Spot On Arm After Vaccination?
My daughter received a flu shot yesterday and this evening she has an area on her arm that is raised, red, painful and warm on the same arm where she got the flu shot but it isn t where she got the shot . This is probably 3 inches below where she got the shot. Could this be associated with the flu shot?
I can understand your concern for raised, red, painful and warm spot on arm after vaccination. I can make out the possibility of enlarged lymph node after the flu shot.
It is quite common to find such kind of thing after vaccination due to good immune response which causes enlargement of the lymph node. I advise you to not to pinch, pop or scratch the area. Do not attempt any home remedies as can lead to further aggravation of the problems.
Swollen lymph nodes are just a common thing after vaccination and are always to be checked out with medical experts. If your daughter feels pain sensation then I suggest my patients to take paracetamol according to her age for once or twice daily.
I also suggest you to give information to the medical personnel or the person giving the flu shot and take guidance accordingly.
All the best.
