What Causes Rapid Heart Rate?

This is the second time this has happen in the last week, I feel my heart beating so fast and hard that it feels like it is coming through my chest, I also have a feeling of a strange pain in my throat, where it gives me of a strange sensation. I no longer drink caffeine, gave it up over 8-months ago and right now I am just sitting at my desk with no stress at all, what could be causing this sensation all of a sudden.

Hello,

Feeling or experience of irregular need to be tested for cardiac illness and for that EKG is the test that confirms it, irregular heart rate could be due to anxiety and stress but it can not be taken alone for the reason and condition needs to be ruled out for cardiac disease.
