Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have mild heart failure. I am seeing one doctor after another with no continuity and getting to the point where I won't go. My friend who is a nurse has given me a stethoscope to check my heart rate and rhythm. Is there a technique? I have a fast heartbeat but all I can hear is a blur of sound, my friend said she could hear all the valves and easily count my beats...
You can not detect any anomalies by a stethoscope!!
Transiently high heart rate is common and it does not indicates any disease condition. You can consult a physician and get an ECG done for reassurance.

What Causes Rapid Heart Rate?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Rapid heart rate can be caused by number of factors. Has mild heart failure been suggested by your Doctor? You can count your heart beats per minute by holding your wrist and looking at the time simultaneously. Hope I have answered your query.
