What Causes Rapid Shallow Breathing When Diagnosed With SLE?

I have a friend who was diagnosed with Lupus SLE? a couple months ago. She is going downhill quickly. she was very ill with very rapid breathing, very low oxygen levels, and incoherent. Is it possible this type of lupus could have affected her like this so quickly?

I really appreciate your concern for your friend, the symptoms that is being stated here are not due to SLE, but these could be due to low level of hemoglobin, some time could be due to some cardiac disease, it may be exercise induced asthma and these all needs to be ruled out, but it may not be SLE, hope this information helps.
