What Causes Rash On Earlobe While On Strep Throat Treatment?

My 6 year old daughter has a thin line on her earlobe that is itchy. What can it be? She is currently on penecillin to treat strep throat and she did have 3 days worth of high fevers. 39.9 and the highest at 40.2 before antibiotics took affect. Any idea of what rash on ear lobe could be?

Normally an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection starts with a viral eitiology and then the bacterial infection takes over.

During this period many viruses can cause a rash in addition to other symptoms such as fever and cough. Many of these rashes are 'nonspecific'. It's difficult for the doctor to say which virus is the culprit, but that some virus is a likely cause of the rash. According to your description, it's an isolated lesion seen only on the earlobe hence it may not be significant.

Do not worry! This will subside once the infection comes down. If it persists, consult your doctor.
