What Causes Rash On Face Of A Baby?

my grand daughter, 11 months old, has a rash on her face. We thought it was just a heat rash, but now it is going down her back. She doesn t act sick, although she ran a fever the other day. My daughter will take her to the doctor in the morning, but would like to know now what she is dealing with so she can take precautions. Her appetite is as good as usual.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The rash your baby has can be either

-allergic rash. Can be prickly heat due to exposure to heat, allergy to the milk (if changed to formula milk), her clothings (material or roughness)talc powder, baby soap.

-It can be viral infection. More possible because she had fever.

* try to avoid triggering things you observe. Apply caladryl lotion. Paracetamol drops. If baby is uncomfortable or feverish. Continue with breast feeding/give plenty of boiled water. Consult her doctor for needful oral medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
