Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son (4 yrs old) has a rash (or small bruises) on his butt. They are small dots and are in a symmetrical circular shape. The largest circle is about 6 inches in diameter. We re trying to figure out what could have caused this and if he needs to be seen by a doctor.
Management includes: 1. Keeping the area dry & avoid too much exposure to water or sweat formation. 2. Antihistamine preparations like cetirizine to reduce the itching sensation & provide symptomatic relief. 3. Application of topical antifungal cream like Clotrimazole or Miconazole to tackle the causative organism. 4. Topical antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections.
If symptoms still persist or aggravate further, then it will be better to consult a Dermatologist & get a proper examination done to find out the actual cause. So that appropriate management steps could be taken.
Also avoid wearing him tight clothes, as it will cause sweating & predispose to fungal infections. Wishing your son a Good Health. Take care.
