What Causes Rashes All Over Body And Dry Itchy Skin?
My Dad uses a CPAP and never cleans it....well maybe twice a year. He had double knee replacement 2 yrs ago and then one knee got infected last year and he had it taken out and replaced. Well now for about 6 months he has had a rash all over his body that 3 dermatologist just can t figure out. His skin is very dry and he is itchy all the time with good days and some really bad days. Could this in any way be related to him using a CPAP that he really never cleans although he does use distilled water?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes all over body and dry itchy skin which seems to be due to allergic reaction to cosmetics, foods, detergents, poison ivy which can cause allergic dermatitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start taking anti allergics medications such as Allegra. You should maintain proper cleanliness and avoid scratching the bumps to prevent infection. If symptoms still keeps on persisting you should visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Go for patch test and blood tests and start treatment after proper prescription. You should apply a steroid ointment like cortisone over the rash area for relieving inflammation and itching. Application of calamine lotion will be effective to soothe the skin. Apply cold compresses over itchy rashes.
