What Causes Rashes Around An Enoxaparin Sodium Injection Site?

I was in the hospital last week for an a-fib event, I have an artificial heart valve (aortic) and have been on warfarin since 2006. My INR was 1.6 when I got to the ER (should be closer to 2.5). They increased the warfarin a small amount and started giving me Enoxaparin sodium injections. I started getting large bruises at the injection sites and they have gotten much worse since I ve been home (Friday afternoon) 4/21/17. They told me to inject very slowly, which I have done, but some of the nurses did not and those are the worst sites. There s burning and large welts and my entire stomach area is black and blue. I can t get a call back from the hospital so far....Is there a way to make this more comfortable? Heat? Ice?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is due to its blood thinning action.

Nothing to worry and no definite treatment is required.

It will settle by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
