Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 50 year old female and have been experiencing a rash on my breasts and around my breasts. I have seen a doctor and was diagnosed with a yeast infection and prescribed a cream, which cleared up the rash, but once I stopped using it the rash keeps coming back. I m at my wits end with this. Any ideas or suggestions?
Hello, Fungal/yeast infection of the breast is one of the common conditions some women face. The basic problem here based on my experience is tight or improper designed bra's. These when worn increase the sweating in the area. Warm and moist places are like gold mines for yeast. They thrive well. The next cause might be due to fungal infection elsewhere in the body that is being transmitted to your breast. Make sure that you don't have vaginal candidiasis as most women are prone to such fungal infections and are not even aware of this. Vaginal candidiasis is common due to douching and using ph regulating vaginal wash liquids. So my suggestion would be to try eliminating such commonly overlooked causes and your condition should resolve. Till then continue the topical cream whenever needed. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
