What Causes Rashes On Body After Taking IV Antibiotics?

I have I have had surgery for my wrist on Saturday, after a fall fractured it. The fall was on the Tuesday prior. I have been taking Endone and paracetamol as prescribed since the fall. While in hospital I had intravenous antibiotics ( none since returning home this last Sunday.I have a rash on my body which has been getting worse since Sunday. Should I see a GP?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have got an allergic reaction to the intravenous antibiotics that have been given to you during the surgical procedure leading to formation of rashes over the body..

As the condition is still worsening you should first of all take anti allergics like Allegra or Benadryl for relieving the symptoms..
You can also do cool compresses over the body..
Application of calamine lotion will soothe the skin..

You should however consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical examination and advise you investigations like allergic tests like Prick test, Patch test, RAST test etc for confirmation..

In case if symptoms are severe you can be given a steroid shot for faster relief followed by oral anti-allergics..
