What Causes Rashes On Body Of An Infant Post Intake Of Antibiotics?
I have a friend who has a 7month old baby that has been on amoxicillin before, and has done fine. The baby was put on it again for an ear infection, and now the baby has a rash all over. Is it possible to have not had a reaction the first time, and he is now reacting?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that the baby has got an allergic reaction to Amoxicillin that is a Penicillin group of antibiotic.. As the baby did not got reaction previously, the reason is that during the first exposure there are not sufficient antibodies formed in the body against the allergen that can cause apparent allergy symptoms.. As the same Antibiotic is given again there are suffering antibiotics formed again leaders to rashes that is sign of allergy symptoms.. The baby should not be given antibiotic any more and should consult the treating physician and he can advise another antibiotic along with anti allergics like Benadryl. Doing cool compresses over the rashes can relieve irritation.. Calamine lotion can be applied..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
