What Causes Rashes On Face And Back Along With Dry Finger Tips?

I started a rash on my face and back and shoulders. It doesn t itch, but has started flaking my skin from the tiny bumps. My hands and end of my fingers are very dry and cracking, and my nail beds seem to be shrinking and getting smaller. I went to the dermatologist and she prescribed some cream to rub on twice a day, but it doesn t seem to be clearing it up, and it s been almost two weeks since I started the cream. My feet callouses are getting very tough, also, making it painful to walk on them.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to dermatitis.

You can apply hydrocortisone ointment locally three times a day for rashes after dermatologist consultation. For dry fingertips and feet, try to soak them in warm water for a few minutes and then apply a good moisturizer.

For further evaluation, you may require blood investigations, after detailed medical examination and physician consultation. Till then maintain good hydration and eat a healthy diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
