What Causes Rashes On Hands And Exhaustion While On Carbimazole?

I was diagnosed with over active thyroid last week by my GP and have been given Carbimazole 20mg. I have started taking the medication and I am getting a funny rash on my hands, and feeling exhausted. I have also been reading many people s experience & side effects on the drug and I am really worried about the weight gain noted by many and headaches. Does this medication make you put on weight? And give too many side effects?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have rashes on hands and exhaustion while on Carbimazole . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like carpal tunnel syndrome , lyme disease , medication reaction or side-effect , rheumatoid arthritis and anemia . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to Carbimazole as its side effects . although it is not known to cause gain in weight . If itching become worse with time and your are feeling exhausted the consult your doctor , who prescribed you Carbimazole without any delay . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute .
