Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a rash that developed (I thought it was sun poisoning) in May of this year that never went away. I went to a dermatologist and she prescribed topical steroids that never made the rash go away either. I assumed it was stress related and since it doesn t itch (and comes and goes now) I have ignored it. When I got my hair done yesterday, my hair stylist asked if something traumatic had happened to me because she said there was TONS of new growth and that I had lost a lot of my hair in the last 6 months (about the time I had the rash develop). After further research, my rash looks exactly like the butterfly rash. I am not sure if I should see a doctor about the hair loss; however, my hair stylist made it seem like it was definitely not normal for that hair to have fallen out.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on scalp and hair loss which seem sto be due to fungal infection and improper hygiene. In your case it seems to me that the stress is additional factor. Stress can cause different type of hair loss such as alopecia areata , telogen effluvium. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order skin patch test , blood test and physical examination . Doctor may prescribe you anti fungal treatment along with minoxidil spray. Doctor may also recommend hair transplant. You should use olive oil or almond oil for scalp massage.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
