What Causes Rashes On The Back Of The Neck While Having Positive ANA Test Result?
Hello, I have a rash on the back of my neck that looks like scratches. I also have a positive ANA and work as a ceramics teacher Silica dust exposure for 18 yrs any ideas what this is? It s been there for 2 weeks, not clearing up. Thank You
Hello, Thankyou for asking your question at health care magic.
Positive ANA means presence of auto antibodies in the body. The presence of auto antibodies may be indicative of several conditions like autoimmune fisorders, certain medications etc. Certain auto immune disorders present with rashes. However sometimes ANA positivity is not associated with any disorders or even be false positive results.
Since you have prolonged exposure to silica,I would also like to know of any breathing difficulty /respiratory symptoms you have.In some instances silicosis also present with ANA positivity.
I recommend that you consult your primary care physician / rheumatologist so that he/she can evaluate you and order further investigations in the context of any other symptoms you have.
Hope I was able to answer your questions Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
