What Causes Rashes On The Body While Suffering From Hyprothyroidism?
I am suffering from hypothyroidism from last 1 year. I was on drug (thyroxine sodium tablet-100 mcg). Still my thyroid is not under control. its 50 times higher than normal level. From last week suddenly, I am having itches. so i took benadryl lotion. Its rashes in circular form . Still, the old one is replaced by new rashes but its not finishing. Please suggest me what should I do?
Very likely you are having urticaria and in this case you can use Benadryl every 6 hours but it might cause you to be drowsy, you can use Loratadine 10 mg one at night in its place and a Benadryl here and there when you do not feel well. Still urticaria might last for a week and it is normal.
Sometimes oral steroids might be needed for a few days to heal the urticaria, especially if Loratadine is not helping or if you are getting worse.
It is important that you notice if there is anything causing it because you need to avoid the trigger.
As for the thyroid, unless the thyroid hormone is the cause of the urticaria you will need to increase the dose of the thyroid hormone if TSH is 50 times the norm, it shows you are not having the right dose.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
