What Causes Rashes On The Face And Neck While On Norvasc?

I started Norvasc a week ago. I have a rash / flushing / heat in my face and neck. The medicine seems to have stopped my Angina. Will I necessarily need to stop the medication? (I have email and picture sent to my MD earlier today...still waiting to hear back).

Hi,

Norvasc which is contain amlodipine is a very good anti-anginal, it does cause flushing in less than 3% of cases and very rarely skin rash. The good thing is there are some excellent alternatives if these symptoms cause problems to you.

You can change your medicine to other calcium channel blockers like Verapamil or Diltazem, or beta blockers like Bisoprolol if there is no history of asthma or chronic lung problems. However any change in drug should always be done only after consultation with your doctor.
