What Causes Rashes On The Lower Extremities After Recovering From Fever?
My granddaughter is 22 months old, last week she had a upper respiratory cough and cold and ran a low grade fever. After the fever broke she got a rash on her lower extremities. Then the rash turned into hives. She had been prescribed azithromycin which was discontinued. Then she was prescribed pedia pred for the allergic reaction. Today she has bruising all over her lower extremities where the rash was. Is this a reaction to the prednisone?
The rashes sound to be side effect of azithromycin which was discontinued.
Local application of aloe vera gel with anti histamines will give best effects for early recovery. Steroids are less likely cause of such hives in routine cases, though it may be an exception.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
