What Causes Rashes On The Shoulders Chest And Abdomen?

my 7-yr old grandson has a rash that is spreading over his shoulders, upper chest, arms, somewhat on his belly, spreading down his legs, and now its getting onto his hands. it is red and a little pustule-looking, though mostly flat. He says it doesn t itch too badly. At first I thought it was sunburn, but then I realized he had been wearing a rash guard. Then I thought it might be contact dermatitis from his swimwear, but obviously that isn t it, as it is spreading onto his hands.

Pustule like red rash spreading to hands,legs and abdomen in children with mild or no fever can be because of chicken pox.It is a viral infection.Doesnt seems to be allergic in origin.

I would advise you to take the child to paediatrician for detailed medical history and physical examination.The infection generally resolves by itself in 2-3 weeks in majority of cases.

Maintain adequate body hydration by giving plenty of fluids.
Dont disturb or scratch the lesions.
Can apply local calamine lotion for soothing and drying of lesions.
Medical management depends upon presence of symptoms and complications.
