What Causes Rashes On The Side Of Abdomen Along With Headaches?
I started with a rash on the left side of my abdomen which I now found to be shingles. I have had headaches almost every day for a week prior and for the past few days every evening. Is this common for a shingles diagnosis. I was given valacyclovir 1 gm from my dr on Friday. The rash started last Monday but I was away for the holiday and waited until I got back to see a dr. I would appreciate any info you may have on this

Shingles is a viral infection of the skin but the response to that infection by the body can cause many symptoms like Fever, Headache , Joint pains , nausea , malaise etc.
So there is no abnormal in you having headache . There is nothing to be worried as it will go off in few days.
You can take Tyelenol for headache on as and when required basis .

The treatment prescribed to you is right please take the complete treatment otherwise the infection will recurr. Because this virus will hide inside the nerves if spinal cord and with incomplete treatment will recurr.
You can take gabapebtin for this infection as this is the analgesic of choice for such a nerve root induce pain. Vitamin B 12 is also adviced in such a case.
Please maintain good hygiene by maintaining good cleanliness. This will also prevent infection to other family members.
Wearing cotton cloth also helps in such a condition.
