Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash at the top of my buttocks. It is right at the top and in the area of where sweat is held when I m running and working out. I work out five days a week. I went to the doctor today and she said she didn t think it was herpes. Also I am engaged and have been with her for two years. She said that it may be shingles. It made me super nervous though because I am 25, and when I looked online everything said I needed to be checked for HIV if I have shingles at my age. I can send pictures. I was told by a doctor last year that we had hpv. Could it be related to that or do you think it would be shingles.
You are suffering from butt rashes. Butt rashes commonly occur due to yeast infection, jock itch (tinea cruris), heat rash, contact dermatitis or eczema. Other medical conditions that can cause butt rashes are shingles, herpes, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined and tested for shingles and herpes. Your partner should also be tested for it.
Tissue sample or culture of blisters is taken to confirm shingles. There is no cure but antivirals /antibiotics help to control symptoms. There is no cure for herpes but the symptoms are manageable with antivirals and antibiotics. Both the partners are suggested to get STD tests to stay on the safer side & to rule out other STIs.
You can apply ointment acyclovir on the area affected for relieve. In case of jock itch, applying ointment clotrimazole on the affected area will work. Do not scratch, touch or pick. You can take antihistamine at bed tome to reduce symptoms of allergy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
