Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had sex with a new partner for the first time 3 days ago, the day after I developed a raw wet peeled rash next to my labia. I have had Zits and rashes before after sex and have been checked many times and have come out clean. I m scared its like a raw red rash of herpes without blisters? All the pics I see online are so severe. I don t know if I just am more prone to rashes after sex or its something I should worry about
Hello and welcome to HCM, A rash on genitalia in a sexually active individual is suspicious for sexually transmitted disease (STD). A rash can occur in case of herpes, however, the rash is quite painful. Herpes infection may also be accompanied by fluid filled blisters. Syphilis is characterized by painless ulcer. Hemophilus infection is characterized by painful rash. I suggest you to get a screening test for STDs. Besides STD, allergy to undergarments or rubber (condom) can also lead to rash on external genitalia. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment, investigations and thus management. Till the time the rash is cured, avoid unprotected sex.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
