What Causes Rectal Bleeding After Colonoscopy?

My husband had a colonoscopy within the past year. One polyp was removed, but one, which was described as a possible precancerous type could not be removed at that time because of its location. Recently he has been experiencing a good deal of rectal bleeding that does not seem to be related hemorrhoids. I talked to him a couple.of days ago, and I think he is seeing that he needs to go back to the doctor now, but he thinks that he needs to make the next couple of weeks at work first. I am feeling very distressed, and I would simply appreciate knowing what to expect to better prepare.

Hi, welcome to healthcaremagic. If, there is a precancerous polyp which could not have been removed, you should go for a second look colonoscopy again because that might have increased in size. A cancerous lesion can increase in size slowly and may involve the whole of the lumen within one and half year. It usually presents with blood in stools and mucous discharge. Also, there may be a spurious diarrhea in the morning.
So, I would suggest that please show your husband's condition to a surgeon, better if colorectal or oncosurgeon and take consultation and a thorough investigation with CT and markers of cancer like CEA and get him treated as soon as possible.
