What Causes Rectal Bleeding And How Can It Be Treated?

Hello! My boyfriend is in Germany and has been drinking very heavily since he's been there over the past month. He just called and said he is pooping straight blood (not in fecal matter, just blood) and it looks like it's probably a direct result from drinking. Hospitals where he is aren't great. Any advice besides to stop drinking until he can get to a proper health care facility?

Hi,

Hemorrhoids and fissure are possible for bleeding. If this is not, then it demands the medical attention and then it would be matter of investigation.

It could be infection, inflammatory disease of intestine, then it could be GI pathology, blood disorders and others. All of these need clinical examination and investigation (different testing).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain
