What Causes Rectal Bleeding During Defecation?

My wife is 41, is wheelchair-mobile with cerebral palsy. She has just started experiencing rectal bleeding during bowel movements, on a day during which she had seven, double or triple her normal daily bm activity. I was worried about colorectal cancer, but in reading here, it s just as likely to be an internal hemmoroid. Do you agree? Should I panic?

Dear Friend,
If its fresh blood it may be internal or external hemorrhoid, usually in patients with history of chronic constipation and passing of hard stool, if colour of stool is dark or coffee coloured than then you need to test stool for occult blood if its comes positive then plan upper and lower GI Endoscopy, first diagnosis is Hemorrhoid unless proved otherwise. so do not be panic start treatment on line of hemorrhoid, start calcium dobesilate 500 mg thrice a day, take fibrous diet, drink plenty of water,
thanks
