Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been finding it very painful to go to the toilet for the past week (passing faeces) I am a male aged 18. There has also been blood mixed with mucus on the toilet tissue every time I go to the toilet, after noticing blood, I decided to examine myself as I am a little too embarrassed to visit a doctor due to it being quite a sensitive matter, upon examination I noticed that it didn t feel right and was quite painful inside. I thought that it could have been Haemorrhoids due to the bright red colour blood, but because there is a significant amount of mucus I thought there may be an infection. I have not been able to release much faeces for about 3 days now.
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. It may be caused by hard stool and constipation and in most cases causes are benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths. If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered. Other causes may be more serious and include tumors or inflammatory bowel diseases and these should be ruled out with colonoscopy which must be done if there is low blood count present or rapid weight loss. Otherwise, you can see if conservative therapy will help and consult proctologist if necessary I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
