Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ate beets for lunch Thursday and Friday, about a medium sized beet each day in olive oil with oranges. Yum. Friday and Saturday a.m. I noticed a ting of red on the toilet paper after I wiped. Sunday morning my regular stool had a lot of bright red floating around it. I didn't see this red earlier in the week. I had a bleeding ulcer years ago and seen a black tarry stool that goes with that. Could it be the beets?
It is possible in relation to altered gut flora mechanics from beet and olive oil. Recommended to stop consuming the same for further seven days, and later if the stool is problematic, take a stool microscopy examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
