What Causes Recurrent Bartholin Cyst Despite Taking Bactrim?

My daughter is in America on holiday from the uk and has a recurring Bartholin Cyst. She has been given Bactrim Ds from the Doctor which is an antibiotic she hasn t used before. The cyst has not burst. She is in agony and is wondering how long it will take for the pain to go away. I have told her to apply heat to the area. Is there anything else she can do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
Bactrim may help only for short period. There may be blockage of the cyst that repeatedly grows and inflammes so permanent solution would be surgical procedure under general anesthesia if you ask me. BActrim is not enough.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
